Sound Barrier Walls
Sound Barrier Construction Began on Greenway in Mid-September
The Florida Department of Transportation has identified 21 communities that would benefit from the construction of sound barrier walls along the I-595 and Florida Turnpike corridors. As part of the I-595 Express Corridor Improvements Project, a total of 13 sound barrier walls will be built within the project limits. There are two types of sound barrier walls which construction crews will use throughout the project: ground-mounted and shoulder-mounted. Construction of the nine ground-mounted sound barrier walls will begin prior to the beginning of roadway construction. The shoulder-mounted sound barrier walls will be built throughout the course of the project.
I-595 Express, LLC, the Concessionaire who is responsible for designing and building these sound barrier walls, will begin construction of the ground-mounted sound barrier walls in areas where there are no existing conflicts, where they are able to secure permits and where access is readily available.
