Construction Segment A

I-595, from I-75 to Flamingo Road

Segment A is about three miles long and extends from west of I-75/Sawgrass Expressway to Flamingo Road.  Construction Segment A is scheduled to begin in the 3rd Quarter of 2010.  Highlights from Segment A construction include: two new ramps to connect the I-595 toll lanes to the I-75/Sawgrass Expressway; widening the bridge over 136th Ave to the north; widening and relocating the existing westbound I-595 corridor to the north to accommodate three new toll lanes as well as new auxiliary lanes on I-595 mainline; construction of a tolling gantry east of 136th Ave; milling and resurfacing of existing I-595 lanes; widening the existing westbound bridge over Flamingo road to the south to accommodate three new toll lanes; widening and relocating westbound I-595 to the north including the construction of a new 4-span bridge over Flamingo Road; and new asphalt pavement for additional lanes.   The work will also include some utility relocation, new signaling, lighting and striping.
